  Lorenzo was sent to Brooklyn, New York, to live with his aunt who had never been able to have kids of her own. She was a kind, sweet-hearted lady but supporting Lorenzo made it hard to make ends meet so Lorenzo went out and got a job at a florist down the street from their apartment owned by a friend of his aunt. It was an odd-jobs sort of situation and Lorenzo was a hard worker, but he wasn't a happy kid. He did try to find his place in the world, but the search came up fruitless. He had a little musical talent, learning guitar, piano and drums throughout school, but he never wanted to be a professional musician. He started to express himself by getting inked but unlike some, his tattoos never really had much meaning. He just, admittedly, kind of got off on the pain because it mixed up his otherwise dull life. Towards the end of high school, he fell in with the "bad" kids and started testing the waters who booze and drugs. Again, he wasn't even sure if he enjoyed it so much as it gave him something to do. In a desperate attempt to try to get him back on the straight and narrow, his aunt suggested taking the apprenticeship at the florist that just came up, and at the time, he couldn't have thought of anything more boring. He took it, though, because it was a pay rise and it turned out that he had a truly natural gift for floristry, even if it was a bit of an unlikely profession for a guy like Lorenzo. Life took a weird twist for him just after his 21st birthday when he got involved with a girl called Mara who had schizophrenia and a history of drug abuse. When Lorenzo met her, she was well and clean, and they struck up a sweet romance where he thrived on wining and dining her, going on cheesy dates, spending as much time as he could with her. Lorenzo was bisexual and had dated both sexes on and off since he was 16, but he started to feel like Mara was the one. They lasted about four years happily, but then Mara fell ill again and started to use. It hit their relationship hard, but the bigger blow came when she found out she was pregnant. It was a rocky pregnancy with complications but she managed to stay clean throughout to give the baby the best chance. But she wasn't well, and after two suicide attempts throughout the course of the pregnancy, once their baby girl, Holly, was born she finally succeeded in taking her life. They were walking home from the post-natal clinic appointment when Holly was three weeks old. Holly started to cry and wouldn't stop, despite Mara's best attempts at rocking her to soothe her. That was when she just handed the newborn over to Lorenzo, and stepped out in front of a passing bus. Lorenzo was - literally - left holding the baby. A single dad with a job that managed to pay the rent and the bills, but supporting a new baby was another story. He barely knew anything about raising a baby and his aunt, now poorly with heart problems, couldn't help very much no matter how much she tried. He had no choice but to deal with it, and figure it out somehow. He adores his baby girl more than life itself, and he has truly come to just be living for her by now and doing whatever it takes to stop community services knocking on his door.
